e18 rattle

all at once

I recorded this episode yesterday, October 5, 2017 in Strathcona Park in Ottawa. I notice the melodic rattling of my single speed bike every day when I go to work. I could easily fix the back metal mud flap, but have I come to like it this sound enhances my biking experience: a type of acoustic shadow. As the camera and microphone lie on the bike’s handle bars I peddle through the park: feeling the vibrations in my body, the air on my head, the rhythm of the mud flap, the texture of pavement and grass underneath… all at once. It’s thanksgiving in Canada this weekend: a moment to be thankful and mindful.
